Global Terrorism
"The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic"

While there are countless data visualizations involving terrorism and its related tragedies, the unfortunate truth is that many of these visualizations do not give the emotional information the depth it deserves. The existing visualizations are informational in their own ways; however, they typically allow the creator and the user to distance themselves from the stories underneath the data. A simple color encoding does not express the calamity of loss of life.
Our goal is to visualize terrorism data provided publicly from the Global Terrorism Database (GTD) while emphasizing the emotional aspect of the data.
Remember that these dots represent people... They're not just statistics...

Although the nature of this data may be very grim,
remember that this data represents the past, and has no bearing on the future.
While we should remember the victims, we should also remember that
we determine the fate of our future, not the assailants.
